Welcome to the world of:-
Grumpy
Woman
If I didn't do this, I would be the mad woman you see wandering round Tesco's muttering obscenities and smelling of wee.
If a lighthearted holiday read is not really your cup of tea, then please consider my good friend Andrew's book. His is on offer too!
Set in the 1970's, Mark
Kemp - a troubled artist - seeks to escape his past by moving to
the seedy tenements of Edinburgh. Little does he realise that the
other tenants of Starlings' Yard keep a dark secret. A secret that
traps them all in a world of fear, inescapable ghosts and the sect
known as Occulus. As he gets drawn deeper into the lives of the
people around him he falls in love with Cassie, a wild and
beautiful girl, whom he decides to paint. However, there are tragic
consequences. Finding himself yet again in a situation of wanting
to run, he understands - perhaps for the first time - that this is
where he needs to be in order to lay his own ghosts to
rest.
This is an amazingly sensitive and beautifully written book, with
great depth and belief in the spirituality that it seeks to
understand.
Part ghost story, part thriller, part art. It endeavors to explore
the aspects of ourselves that can make us truly wicked or truly
great. If you enjoy a bit of thought provoking escapism, this is
one for you.
I have been a writer all my life.
I wrote my first poem when I was 7 and I still have it, along with several hundred other heartfelt teenage outpourings about why the world was so cruel. Writing was always my secret indulgence, a furtive activity I undertook when no one was watching. Needless to say I never showed anyone my work.
I was well into my thirties before I attempted to write anything that people might actually want to read and that was a humble village panto. Several performed scripts and years later, I began to get a feel for where my writing might go.
Grumpy woman is where I found my writing voice. She was born out of the endless rants, I used to direct at my partner about the things in life that pissed me off. He suggested I start the blog, mainly I think to save his sanity.
I don't profess to be a great writer, in fact, technically I am pretty crap as those who proof my work will testify. (I blame this on a virtually non-existent secondary school education and the knack I seemed to have for being bullied. Result, I was a persistent truant that never got caught and therefore never got educated.)
The blogs, like my book are meant to be funny and entertaining with perhaps the hint of a message where appropriate. I hope you enjoy them and thank you for taking the time to visit the website.
